Anarcha-feminism: What is it exactly?
I was having a chat with my friend today and she asked, very skeptically, “What is anarcha-feminism?” Anarcha-feminism is anarchy with a focus on feminism so you don’t end up with “manarchy”. Lots of males are still oblivious to their male privileges and keep that same oppressive hierarchical structure in anarchist circles. Anarcha-feminism is simply anarchy as it is meant to be. Freedom from all nasty isms (racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, classism) as well as homophobia and xenophobia plus freedom from all oppressive hierarchical power structures - including the gender binary. Anarchy is the idea of small-scaled collective organization to form bigger groups and bigger groups where everyone is heard. Basically, trickle “up” in the sense as long as we have the structure of “nations” we would need someone who’s equal to everyone else be the spokesman for the group instead of the trickle down which we currently have. Basically, it would be a world with no countries, no nations, and no flags. Everyone would cooperate and share with each other and there would be no leaders. It is set so at each level the individual is heard as one person matters as much as the collective whole. It’s not the idea of “majority rules” because discussions are reached by consulting with everyone’s needs. It’s sharing, giving, and taking. No one person is “right or wrong” and there’s no choosing sides. There’s no “us against them” because we are all one.
